NORD-IB program is a joint initiative among seven business schools in the Northern European countries, including Aalto University (Finland), BI Norwegian Business School (Norway), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Leeds University (UK), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), University of Manchester (UK), and Uppsala University (Sweden).

Basic eligibility for admission to the PhD programme, the applicant is required to have a degree at advanced level, fulfilled course requirements for at least 240 credit points, of which at least 60 credit points at advanced level, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad.

The PhD Programme The Department of Peace and Conflict Research offers a PhD programme that lasts for 4 years, including compulsory course work corresponding to about 1 year of fulltime studies. PhD candidates are often involved in teaching or administration up to 20% of their time, so it may take up to 5 years to complete the PhD programme. There are two main components of the program: course work (60 credits) and work in connection with the PhD dissertation, including seminars, theoretical work, data collection of different kinds, problem analysis, thesis authorship and supervision by highly qualified tutors (180 credits). The PhD studies in both Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology at Uppsala University is part of the activities supported by the Faculty of Arts.

This year (2021), we are planning to employ up to 8 PhD students: 2 general PhD student employments in Business Studies, financed through Faculty funding.
